Biomagnetism Basics: How Two Simple Magnets Help the Body Rebalance

When people hear “magnets for health,” they either get curious… or sceptical. Fair. Biomagnetism — sometimes called Biomagnetic Pair Therapy — is a gentle, non-invasive therapy that uses pairs of medium-strength magnets on specific points of the body to help restore internal balance. At Lifeflo Wellness Clinic, it’s used to support the body’s own healing processes without drugs, needles or downtime.

What Is Biomagnetism?

Biomagnetism was developed in the late 1980s by Dr. Isaac Goiz Durán. The core idea: many health issues are linked to areas of the body where the pH has shifted — too acidic or too alkaline. By placing two magnets with opposite poles on those areas (a “Biomagnetic Pair”), the therapy aims to bring the pH in that region closer to normal, creating a less friendly environment for pathogens and helping the body self-regulate.

The Principle Behind It: pH & Balance

Your body likes balance — that’s called homeostasis. When parts of the body become too acidic or too alkaline, it’s believed this can encourage microbes or inflammation. Biomagnetism uses static magnets to influence those areas and support a healthier internal environment. Lifeflo Wellness Clinic describes it as restoring the body’s normal cellular environment by balancing pH.

So… What Actually Happens in a Session?

Here’s what a typical biomagnetism session looks like:

  1. Assessment – The practitioner identifies which areas need correcting. At Lifeflo Wellness Clinic this is done by a trained biomagnetism practitioner.

  2. Placement of Magnet Pairs – Two magnets of opposite polarity are placed on specific points — sometimes front and back, sometimes on limbs, sometimes on organ areas.

  3. You Rest – You just lie there. No machines, no pain, no needles. The magnets stay on for around 15–30 minutes.

  4. Body Responds – The goal is to normalise pH in those areas, making it easier for the body to deal with underlying imbalances, infections or low-grade inflammation.

What Can It Help With?

Practitioners use biomagnetism as a supportive therapy for things like:

  • low energy and general fatigue

  • recurring infections

  • digestive discomfort

  • stress-related tension

  • recovery alongside other therapies

Because it’s non-invasive and the magnets are passive (not plugged into anything), it’s generally considered gentle and compatible with other treatments.

(And no, you won’t walk out sticking to the fridge.)

Biomagnetism at Lifeflo

Lifeflo Wellness Clinic Practitioner positions Biomagnetic Pair Therapy as a natural way to restore balance without relying on medication or invasive procedures — ideal for people who want to support their health in a holistic way or who are already doing other therapies at the clinic (hydrotherapy, PEMF, red light, etc.). Putting biomagnetism in that mix makes sense because they all aim at helping the body do what it’s designed to do.

Is It the Same as PEMF or Magnet Bracelets?

No

  • PEMF (which Lifeflo also offers) sends pulsed electromagnetic fields through the body with a device.

  • Biomagnetism uses static magnets placed in pairs on very specific points.

  • Magnet jewellery is more general and not targeted.

So biomagnetism is the more “clinical, mapped, and intentional” version.

Important Note

Biomagnetism is classed as Functional Medicine (finding the "ROOT" cause to the problem. It’s not a replacement for emergency care, diagnosis, or prescribed medical treatment, however it can be used with conjunction with allopathic medicine. Always speak to your GP or healthcare provider if you have an ongoing or serious condition.

Biomagnetism offers a non-invasive whole-body approach that supports the body in its return to homeostasis.
