Lymphoedema

Lymphoedema is a chronic condition that causes swelling—most often in the arms, legs, or other parts of the body, due to a build-up of lymphatic fluid. The lymphatic system is a vital part of your immune and circulatory systems, responsible for transporting lymph (a clear fluid containing white blood cells) throughout the body to remove waste, toxins, and excess fluid.

When the lymphatic system becomes blocked, damaged, or overwhelmed, fluid can accumulate in the tissues, leading to persistent swelling, discomfort, and changes in skin texture. Lymphoedema can affect people of all ages and is more common after certain medical treatments or conditions that impair lymph flow.
Causes
-
Surgery or radiation treatment for cancer
-
Infections or injuries affecting the lymphatic system
-
Congenital or hereditary conditions (primary lymphoedema)
-
Chronic venous insufficiency or other circulatory issues
